The law on discrimination

What is discrimination?

Discrimination means that you are treated worse even though you should be treated the same as everyone else. Discrimination is not permitted in Sweden. It does not matter what skin colour you have, which god you believe in or whether or not you can walk, nobody should be treated any worse than anybody else!

We have seven discrimination principles here in Sweden:

  • gender
  • gender-transgressing identity or expression
  • ethnic group
  • religion or other beliefs
  • functional disorder
  • sexual orientation
  • age
